Tips before starting these poses:

  • Do it on empty stomach
  • Do it in the early hours (mostly during the time of sunrise)

Step-1: Prayer pose – Pranamasana

Stand on your mat and bring your feet together. Distribute the weight on both the feet equally. Broaden your chest and try to relax on your shoulders. Inhale (breath in); lift your arms up from the sides. Now, exhale (breath out)and bring your palms together in prayer position straight in front of your chest.

Step-2: Raised arms pose – Hasta Uttanasana

Inhale and lift your arms up and then to the back. Bring your biceps close to your ears. Try to stretch back your body as much as you can.

Step 3: Hand to foot pose – Hasta Padasana

Exhale and bend yourself forward from waist and remember to keep your spine straight. Then try to bring the hands down to the floor to your feet.

Step 4: Equestrian pose- Ashwa Sanchalanasana



Inhale and push the right leg back to as far it can be. Bring the left knee to floor and slowly look up. Make sure that the left foot is exactly in between the palms.

Step 5: Stick pose- Dandasana

Inhale and take your left leg back. Try to bring the whole body into a straight line. Put your arms straight to the floor.

Step 6: Salute with eight parts or points – Ashtanga Namaskara

Slowly try to bring the knees down to floor and breathe out. Bring the hips back and move forward. Relax your chin and chest on the ground. The perfect way to work out this asana is to make sure that the eight body parts – the hands, the feet, the knees, chest and chin have to touch the ground.

Step 7: Cobra pose – Bhujangasana

Slide forward. Raise your chest up into a cobra pose. Bend your elbows and rest in this pose. Keep the shoulders away from ears. Try to look up

Step 8: Mountain pose – Parvatasana


Exhale and lift the hips up and chest downwards into an ‘inverted V’ (/\) posture.

Step 9: Equestrian pose- Ashwa Sanchalanasana

Inhale and push the left leg back to as far it can be. Bring the right knee to floor and slowly look up. Make sure that the right foot is exactly in between the palms.

Indian sweets are the best and delicious when compared to other countries. They are made with healthy dairy products such as milk, ghee, jaggery, cardamom, Badam and cashews. So, there is no option of avoiding sweets in our daily food. The recipes and cooking style may differ, but ultimately the taste and feel of Indian sweets is unbeatable. For every special festival, our home is filled with a new kind of recipe making the day more special.

Here I present some traditional Indian home made sweet recipes.


Ingredients needed to  make this home made sweets:

  • Milk : 1 litre
  • Jaggery: 250 gms
  • Sugar: 50 gms
  • Rice flour: 4 glasses
  • Cashews: 50 gms
  • Raisins: 50 gms
  • Cardamoms: 5
  • Ghee: 2 Tbps
  • Sago: 50 gms

Preparation procedure:

1. Soak sago for more than an hour
2. Now we have to prepare batter for pala talikalu. Add 1 tsp of jiggery to a cup of water and bring it to boil.
3. Take a bowl. Add 2 tsp of rice flour and a little water. Make it as a paste.
4. Add this paste to the boiling jaggery and stir it continuously for 5 minutes. Make sure you are cooking on a low flame and do it until the bubbles are seen.
5. Let it cool for some time. Now add this batter to 4 glasses of rice flour and prepare smooth dough out of it.
6. Prepare small rolls out of this dough and make them ready to cook.

7. In a vessel, start boiling 1 litre milk and ½ litre water. Once it is boiled add the soaked sago
8. When it is boiling, slowly leave these strings. Turn on a medium flame.
9. As the rolls are seen in the upper layer, it indicates that they are cooked. Now you can mix with spoon.
10. In another pan, boil the jaggery, sugar and a cup of water. Make it a thick paste. Once it is ready, off the flame and let it cool for sometime.
11. Pour this paste into the Pala thalikalu. Don’t pour when it is hot. It will break the rolls.
12. Add fried cashews, raisins and cardamoms to it.
13. Our recipe is ready. Serve it hot.

Ingredients needed to make Kaju Katli:

  • Cashews – ½ cup
  • Water – 90ml
  • Sugar – 1 cup
  • Rose water – 1 tbsp
  • Cardamom powder – ½ tbsp

Preparation Procedure:

  1. Roast the cashews in a pan until they turn brown and crunchy. Keep them aside to cool down
  2. As they are cooled down, powder them in a blender into a fine powder. Make sure it doesn’t turn out oily.
  3. Take a non-stick pan. Add sugar, rose water and cardamom powder.
  4. Soon the sugar starts melting and gets boiled.
  5. Then add the finely powdered cashew to the boiling sugar syrup. Cook it until it becomes a moist and thick paste on a low flame
  6. Turn off the flame and let the batter cool down for some time.
  7. Transfer it into a separate plate that has silver paper, roll them and cut it in desired shapes.

  • Instant Oats / Quick Cooking Oats – 2 cups
  • Thick unsour curd – 1 cupOats uthappam
  • Rava – 1/4 cup
  • Water as needed
  • Green Chillies – 2 finely chopped
  • Ginger – 1 tsp grated
  • Curry leaves a sprig
  • Salt to taste
  • Baking Soda – 1 tsp
  • Oil as needed

For Topping:

  • Carrot – 1 large
  • Capsicum – 1/2 cup finely chopped
  • Onion – 1 medium size finely chopped
  • Tomatoes – 1 finely chopped (seed removed)

Preparation procedure:

Step-1: Mix all the ingredients for topping in a bowl. Set aside till use.

Step-2: Take oats in a blender and make it into a fine powder. Add in curd and grind it to a smooth paste.

Step-3: Take this in a bowl and add some water to it.

Step-4: Now add in rava, ginger, chillies, curry leaves, salt and mix well. Let it be cooked for 10 mins. If needed add more water

Step-5: Now add in baking soda and mix well. You can also add eno salt in place of baking soda.

Step-6: Heat a non stick tawa and use a paper towel to grease it lightly with some oil.

Step-7: Pour a ladleful of batter in it, sprinkle with the topping and drizzle some oil. Cover with a lid and cook on a medium heat for 2 mins.

Step-8: Flip over and cook for a min on other side too.

Remove and serve with any chutney.

Vegetable Bean Soup: Warm up yourself with a hot vegetable bean soup. It’s an easy recipe which can be taken as breakfast or in your day meal. This is a very healthy recipe.

Ingredients:Vegetable bean soup

  • Onion, diced -1
  • Garlic cloves – 2
  • Sweet potato, cut – 1
  • Vegetable broth – 4 cups
  • Coriander chopped
  • Tomatoes, diced – 2 cups
  • Bay leaf – 1
  • Red pepper flakes – ½ tsp
  • Fresh green beans – 2 cups
  • 2 carrots, peeled and cut
  • All spices – a pinch
  • Celery stalks, diced – 2
  • Cannellini beans, drained – 2 Cups
  • Kernel corn -1 cup
  • Salt – according to taste
  • Pepper – 1 tsp

Preparation Procedure:

Add all of the ingredients into a slow cooker and mix everything up. Let it cook on high for 8-10 minutes. Top it off with parsley if desired.
