Why do we eat food..?

Have you ever asked this question to yourself..? or have you ever at least bothered about what food you are eating and how many calories does it contain..?

These are the little things that we don’t consider in our daily routine as we are busy with our works. But one has to take a complete care of their diet. Food is something we eat to get energy and fills our stomach. But it is not so. Food is something that is full of nutritive values. And how many proteins, carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals does it provide to our

If we are not aware of these quantities, we will be eating thrice or more a day but we will not get any necessary and essential vitamins to our body. What happens if we don’t take nutritive food. We will be lacking with the so called essential nutrients to our body. In that case we have to eat vitamin and iron tablets instead of food.

Here are two recipes that are a part of healthy diet.

Oats Uthappam: Its a healthy morning breakfast, especially for people on diet. All ages of people will surely love to eat it. Let us go through the recipe now.


  • Instant Oats / Quick Cooking Oats – 2 cups
  • Thick unsour curd – 1 cupOats uthappam
  • Rava – 1/4 cup
  • Water as needed
  • Green Chillies – 2 finely chopped
  • Ginger – 1 tsp grated
  • Curry leaves a sprig
  • Salt to taste
  • Baking Soda – 1 tsp
  • Oil as needed

For Topping:

  • Carrot – 1 large
  • Capsicum – 1/2 cup finely chopped
  • Onion – 1 medium size finely chopped
  • Tomatoes – 1 finely chopped (seed removed)

Preparation procedure:

Step-1: Mix all the ingredients for topping in a bowl. Set aside till use.

Step-2: Take oats in a blender and make it into a fine powder. Add in curd and grind it to a smooth paste.

Step-3: Take this in a bowl and add some water to it.

Step-4: Now add in rava, ginger, chillies, curry leaves, salt and mix well. Let it be cooked for 10 mins. If needed add more water

Step-5: Now add in baking soda and mix well. You can also add eno salt in place of baking soda.

Step-6: Heat a non stick tawa and use a paper towel to grease it lightly with some oil.

Step-7: Pour a ladleful of batter in it, sprinkle with the topping and drizzle some oil. Cover with a lid and cook on a medium heat for 2 mins.

Step-8: Flip over and cook for a min on other side too.

Remove and serve with any chutney.

Vegetable Bean Soup: Warm up yourself with a hot vegetable bean soup. It’s an easy recipe which can be taken as breakfast or in your day meal. This is a very healthy recipe.

Ingredients:Vegetable bean soup

  • Onion, diced -1
  • Garlic cloves – 2
  • Sweet potato, cut – 1
  • Vegetable broth – 4 cups
  • Coriander chopped
  • Tomatoes, diced – 2 cups
  • Bay leaf – 1
  • Red pepper flakes – ½ tsp
  • Fresh green beans – 2 cups
  • 2 carrots, peeled and cut
  • All spices – a pinch
  • Celery stalks, diced – 2
  • Cannellini beans, drained – 2 Cups
  • Kernel corn -1 cup
  • Salt – according to taste
  • Pepper – 1 tsp

Preparation Procedure:

Add all of the ingredients into a slow cooker and mix everything up. Let it cook on high for 8-10 minutes. Top it off with parsley if desired.

Serve Hot..!!
